World Cup Tragedy (Beyond the Pitch)

Tonight, as we debate Webb's performance as the referee, discuss the all-knowing cephalopod, and wonder if there's any chance of Cesc ever coming back to England, one photo relating to the World Cup stood out as a place that we'd never want to see an Arsenal shirt. During the final, two bombs went off in Uganda at places where people were gathered to watch the conclusion of the first African World Cup, killing at least thirty; this is a photo the AP chose to run with the story:

Speaking personally, it's the Arsenal shirt that really got me, brought the tragedy closer to home. Perhaps it's naive, but I always thought that football was something that was meant to bring people together, and it's awful to see something like this happen on a day that should've been a happy one for the continent of Africa. Hipster Gooner hearts and prayers go out to the injured and the families of the dead.
